Deb Evans is Associate Professor in the College of Computing at Birmingham City University. Working extensively with industry on innovation projects her research interests relate to the use of non-traditional participatory methods and tools, which overcome the people, process, technology, and cultural barriers that restrict transformational digital change.Recognising industry trends and pioneering the transition to digital transformation, I lead BCUs Masters provision in digital transformation, achieving external esteem from industry leaders and external examiners achieving outstanding student outcomes of TEF gold across all modules on the course under my leadership. This level 7 programme adopts a sociotechnical systems view of digital transformation, providing students with the skills needed in areas such as digital change management, process optimisation and technical systems integration. I teach the Digital Change module on the course, enabling students to explore how change impacts the viable system model of an organisation.I have an extensive record of managing externally funded activity, contributing to professional practice, recognised as an authority with a reputation for applying academic knowledge in professional settings, through over 20 knowledge transfer partnerships. I am currently responsible for co-leading enterprise activity and managing £1.2m income generation from externally funded enterprise activity working with organisations in the automotive manufacturing, tool manufacturing, injection moulding, printing, logistics and IT services industries. Expertise in planning and implementing digital change in academia and small and medium sized organisations.
