Working as an appointee to State Superintendent Denise Juneau, launched Schools of Promise, an innovative and impactful strategy to improve Montana's most struggling schools, and Graduation Matters Montana, which has resulted in raising the state's high school graduation rate to the highest in state history. Both initiatives are built on the premise that community and families must be involved in schools' efforts to improve, and public-private partnerships are key to sustaining the work.

Provided strategic consulting to philanthropy and non-profit organizations large and small in the Northeast who were seeking to change state and federal laws. Provided training and guidance using PPI Director Judy Meredith's Real Clout materials, which help organizations develop public policy strategies to win. Clients included Boston Children's Hospital, Community Catalyst, New Hampshire Voices for Health, and the Boston Foundation.

Provided national field support for federal affordable housing policy to western and southern states, including policy background, legislative strategy and media.
