After 21 years in the aviation industry, I have retired from full-time work and moved onto short-term assignments via Creative Financial Staffing.. My first assignment was as a revenue auditor for a well-known non-profit that fundraises on behalf of other local charities. It's a terrific organization with caring staff.Then, after working short-term as a bookkeeper for a small church, I began an assignment at a local wildlife preservation organization. The original assignment was to have been for three months. I was there for 15 months!My next assignment with a housing non-profit ended in August. The office adhered keenly to COVID-19 protocols. In fact, most staff worked from home. Ironically, even as the office was nearly empty, the need for this organization's assistance was stronger as the impacts of quarantine and work-from-home have disproportionately affected people in lower socio-economic groups. Many of the checks I wrote while there were mortgage and utility payments for people who struggled to pay these bills. It's sobering evidence of one way in which the COVID-19 pandemic has hurt people. My most recently completed assignment has been for an industry specific business development agency funded primarily by the State of Oregon. I would have liked the assignment to last longer as I'm especially interested the industry supported by this organization.I'm currently working at a non-profit that provides disadvantaged youth with housing, education, and other social and health services. Again, I'm working with caring, nurturing professionals, and I love it!I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to work with these worthwhile organizations. It's been good for me to move out of the corporate world. These non-profits touch lives in meaningful ways--and I'm a part of it.Here's a shout-out to the staff at CFS. They are first rate!
