The Director of Critical Care & Emergency Services-CHD is responsible for the strategic and operational components of Critical Care and Emergency Services for the Community Hospitals Division (CHD)(Community Memorial Hospital (CMH) and Saint Joseph Hospital (SJH)). Report directly to the Vice President of Patient Care Services/CNO for the Community Hospital Division. The CHD Director:• Provides leadership to patient cares services employees that engages and fosters accountability • Maintains necessary regulatory and compliance approvals and quality accreditations • Partners with physicians who use, or will use, the hospital. Maintains multiple dyad partnerships with physicians in various specialties. • Assists in planning new services and programs that generate additional sources of profitable revenue in two community hospitals as well as throughout the system.• Creates an environment that encourages recruiting and retention of clinical employees• Manages budget costs identifying opportunities and participating in initiatives to eliminate non-value costs• Establishes standards for nursing practices and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing services in areas of responsibility over several campuses• Develops organizational patient care programs, policies and procedures that describe the practice of nursing care.• Develops and manages the nursing department’s budget(s) and ensures sufficient number of qualified staff to assess patient needs in areas of accountability. Provides input into the overall patient care services budget for two campuses.• Plan and provide nursing care interventions and prevent complications, promote improvement and patient comfort and wellness• Analyzing areas in planning, promoting and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities

Intermittent Disease Specific Reviewer.Reviews Stroke, Cardiac and CHF programs based on established best practice Joint Commission standards across the country once or twice per month.

• Provided leadership and direction to the nursing staff of a 21 bed Intensive Care Unit, the 29-bed step down telemetry unit and a 16 bed emergency department.• Responsible for EPIC ASAP implementation November 2008 and Epic Phase 2 (Inpatient, ASAP, CPOE) implementation in 2012• Responsible for Trauma and Stroke Programs• Responsible for system wide collaboration regarding emergency service line

Responsible for the off-shift operations of a 180-bed hospital.Provided direction to the Administrative Supervisors, night secretaries and PICC nurse group.Participated in the daily staffing and scheduling of nursing staff

Responsible for the operations of the ICU, CCU and CVICU on a shift basis.Trained as a preceptor for CVVH and IABP patients.Member of the Code team
