6 month stand in position overseeing 21 Intensive Case Management Positions across the state of Victoria

Working intensively with women with complex needs, under the newly funded Intensive Case Management Initiative to secure suitable housing, providing specialist support for dealing with a variety of issues including trauma, physical and mental health, DOA family violence, criminal issues etc

As a caseworker My role involved supporting newly arrived asylum seekers to access temporary housing and financial support.Referrals to Primary health care provides, education services, counselling, linking clients to community supports and legal services. Advocating on a regular basis with immigration. I became Team Leader 2 years after starting as a caseworker, in this role I managed a team of 6 caseworkers, 3 admin staff, and volunteers.I also undertook secondments and stepped in on maternity cover for 12 months as Volunteer & Interpreter manager which involved the recruitment training and management of volunteers and interpreters, dealing with interpreter enquires and managing payroll staff. I also managed to set of up a newly funded parenting program.

I undertook various roles including working in the following areas:Respite unitsIn home support for people with learning disabilitiesDay Centre work, learning disabilities Secure youth centres Rehousing Worker AOD servicesMental Health servicesAsylum seekers and refugees from Kosovo in 2000

Supporting individuals aged between the ages of 16 & 30 whilst residing at the hostel, to acquire long term housing, develop independent living skills, establish links with the community, prepare for job applications, provide employment support, advocacy , safe sex and harm minimisation education amongst other things.
