Started as a clerk for a third party, then moved into the closer role. Under tight deadlines, created loan documents required for closing. Used balance sheets to confirm amount due at closing from consumer, including prorations. Worked with title companies to further verify all numbers matched and fees, prorations, etc were consistent. Worked to obtain any missing documentation or approval from underwriting.

Position was slated to go through the end of January, but due to the success of our testing and implimentation of this project, we completed sucessfully in mid-January.

Accounts Receivable - Posts both insurance and patient payments to patient accounts. Runs monthly billing cycle, ensuring that posting is accurate before statements are sent. Reviews and assesses patient accounts to determine the best possible financial solution for both the clinic and the patient. Answers billing line questions and concerns, sending out itemized statements and HCFA forms when needed. Works within HIPAA guidelines to ensure patient confidentiality. Answers phones, offering patients assistance on a variety of subjects, including setting of appointments, verification of registration information, directions, etc. Revamped collection procedures, including establishing new policies on self-pay accounts. These have had a direct impact on both the bottom line of the clinic, as well as patient satisfaction.

Acted as a liaison between Bellin Health and variously contracted payers; the greatest time spent focused on UHC. A subject matter expert on assigned contracts, provided internal guidance on upholding contractual requirements, including billing issues. This included coordinating efforts to ensure proper payment according to our contracts, conflict resolution, troubleshooting claims processing issues, preauthorization issues, and network status issues. Worked with leadership, internal and external customers to resolve operational service issues and facilitate accurate claim resolution while maintaining a positive working relationship between departments and with our contractual business partners. Handled patient inquiries regarding contractual discounts in relation to their accounts. Interpreted contracts, building them into and maintaining them in a software package that allowed for expanded reporting and denials management functions. Reviewed, tracked, and followed up on appeals instigated by self and by billers. Additional responsibilities included the creation and training of policies and procedures for billing practices in relation to assigned contracts, as well as denials management and credit balance procedures.
