Debashis is a "Metallurgical Engineer" by profession, an "Aero engine innovator" by passion and an "Educator" by heart. He is a specialist in the field of aerospace castings, forgings, machining, metallurgical processes, testing, Aeroengine assembly and maintenance, repair and overhauling (MRO) of aeroengines.Currently, he is a Consultant to ABI SHOWATECH ( TVS group) for vacuum investment castings development. Previously, he served as the Director General (Consultancy) of KIIT University, an Institute of Eminence in India, where he led efforts to bring academia and industry closer through effective interaction and utilization of the state of the art facilities at KIIT with a goal to achieve Atma nirbhar Bharat.Prior to that, he served as the Executive Director of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), India where he headed the production and overhauling of MiG and Sukhoi fighter aircraft engines and also chaired the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE).
