I am a structural biologist with a passion for leveraging experimental and computational techniques to address problems in antibiotic resistance mechanisms, bacterial pathogenesis, and immunology. I serve as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biochemistry at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, US. My research focuses on mechanistic studies of bacterial antibiotic resistance machineries to understand their structure and dynamics, with the aim of developing targeted inhibitors. I investigate two macromolecular complexes: Bacterial RND efflux pumps and Ribosomal RNA methyltransferases. Additionally, I study allosteric communication, mechanisms of gain and loss of function, and other structural dynamics in various clinically important proteins (Human OAS1, OASL, CARD11, Trm10) using computational methods.I work on developing first-of-class inhibitors against efflux pumps and RNA methyltransferases targeting clinically important antibiotic-resistant pathogens. My approach combines biophysical, biochemical, and structural techniques such as cryo-EM and X-ray crystallography. My computational methods include phylogenetics, computer-aided drug discovery, molecular dynamics simulations, protein engineering, and machine learning. By integrating experimental and computational approaches, I aim to uncover complex mechanistic insights.
