I graduated from Kansas State University with a B.S. Degree, Majored in Family Life and Human Development/Minor in Business. I am approved by the state of Kansas to operate a child care program for over 100 infant, toddlers, preschooler and school age children. I have worked in the field of early care and education for 33 years. I have worked with children from infancy to teenagers as well as extensively with adults.Since my arrival at Small Wonders we are financially solvent, have stabilize the teaching team, are on great terms with all of the state licensing representatives, and are running at licensing capacity. Child Care Aware® of Kansas formally called KACCRRA - Kansas Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies (R&R's)Public Awareness CampaignThe goal of this position is to expand consumer knowledge and public awareness about the components of high quality childcare, and to promote the R&R network. Coordinate the activities of the Public Awareness Campaign. Responsibilities include: maintain and upkeep of the website - and the corresponding Parent Central website as well as monthly monitoring of seven R&R network sites, creation of monthly email agency newsletter, and state-wide provider newsletter Bright Beginnings, coordination of articles and maintain database for the KANSAS Child Magazine, responsible for all aspects of the exhibit at local and state conferences, coordinate agency special events, conferences, meetings and training's as assigned, execute public awareness events as assigned - notebook available upon request. Also assist with special projects such as Kansas Quality Rating System.

Infant/Toddler Initiative - This is a new program supported by Social Rehabilitative Services assigned to KACCRRA (Kansas Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agencies) and implemented by the Child Care Association. The objectives are to recruit and retain in-home childcare providers, develop close associations with all childcare service representatives in the six county service delivery areas, and provide training opportunities.My responsibilities included development and coordination of resource borrowing libraries, assisting with technical support and information distribution pertaining to all issues involved with the care and development of infants and toddlers. Extensive training provided to all six counties. We utilize the West Ed. Training series out of California. Tracking, recording and finalizing necessary reporting documents per grant requirements.

The Wichita position is through a corporate contract with the City of Wichita. The center in Phoenix and Derby are residential programs sponsored by La Petite Academy. Achieved emphasis was placed on re-stabilization and recovery of financial position through successful budgeting, creative marketing and appropriate collection activities in these for profit earlychild care programs. I also did extensive marketing to corporate contracts as well as current and perspective clients to increase the enrollment. Responsible for all operational aspects of these three for-profit child care programs run by the La Petite Corporation.

Assisted with the start up of this two-year pilot program. I was extensively involved with the Department of Economic Security intervention program by providing services and interactions with parents who displayed symptoms of distressed families and lifestyles. Gained experience in all facets of contractual forms necessary for welfare clientele along with State Funded Program Assistance.Provisional license obtained for serving special needs children including but not inclusive to apnea monitor babies, tube feeding, attention deficit disorder, emotional or developmentally delayed.Responsible for parent meeting agenda and content, goal is to work with parents and staff for the betterment of the children. I functioned as a resource person for both parents and teaching staff in this position.We expanded the program as the need arose by opening three new classrooms and expanding two current classrooms along with the start up of a summer school age program. I also assisted Director of Quality Management with proposal writing for state and government grants, which secured up to $13 thousand for these program expansions and enhancements.

Child Development Center/KidKare (Sick Child Care)Certified Kindergarten/Second Shift and Weekend Care provided.I operated this employer-sponsored center with an enrollment of 350 children and a licensing capacity of 177 (extensive part - time positions coordinated) Additional responsibilities included being accountable for a 22 bed sick childcare unit called KidKare.Researched, developed, and implemented numerous projects, including a smoke-free Healthy Heart Lion curriculum in cooperation with the Cardiac Rehabilitation Dept., and KID SAFE a preschool Fire Safety Prevention Program in cooperation with several local agencies.I was recognized for ability to interact with members of the business community in a positive and professional manner. I functioned as a resource person for, nursing, university and vo-technical students in conjunction with fire department personnel and emergency medical technicians. St. Francis, (a teaching center), goal was to familiarize these professionals with age appropriate interaction skills to more effectively work with young children.Developed and presented in-service training for teaching staff; monitored compliance to all licensing regulations and state guidelines. One job responsibility was to coordinate a variety of community events, programs, presentations and workshops. Organized and updated the resource library on an on-going basis.
