I am proud to announce our new start up - the International Centre for Responsible Tourism global which I'm working on with Professor Harold Goodwin and a group of very wise people from around the world. We are the hub of a global network on a mission to amplify the 2002 Cape Town Declaration on Responsible Tourism and the 2022 Responsible Tourism Charter. We will do this by providing online training courses, bespoke training for organisations, and manuals and guidance to support Universities to create Responsible Tourism courses. We will also run events and lead the Responsible Tourism Awards with real world experience from winners then fed back into its training programmes.

Responsible Travel is an absolute pioneer in the travel sector; it challenges and questions both itself and others to deliver tourism which takes responsibility for its actions, supporting communities reducing carbon and preserving nature. Last year, Responsible Travel launched its first major impact report and rolled out a carbon label option to its 479 global tour operator and accommodation members. The company now offers almost 900 carbon-labelled holidays on its site. It does not support or promote carbon offsetting; instead advising customers to fly less and choose responsible trips that reduce carbon, support nature and benefit communities.

The Travel Foundation is an NGO with a vision to drive sustainable transformation of the global travel industry at scale. Its activity includes fundraising to create industry-leading research on global issues, developing collaborative networks for change, climate planning and destination stewardship. I became Vice-Chair of the Travel Foundation in 2022 and am a member of the communications, finance/operations and board development committees.

I volunteer for Working with Cancer - a social enterprise formed in 2014 to support employers and staff to work with cancer. It develops dedicated cancer policies for organisations, confidential coaching for both the person with cancer and their line manager, training, drop in clinics and best practice guides. Working with Cancer also provides free webinars on how to return to work successfully after cancer.

Four Agency Worldwide is a £75 million turnover, independent, B Corp-accredited agency employing 362 people with offices in the UK and the Middle East. It specialises in sectors such as public affairs, property, health, culture and travel, all supported by dedicated digital, social, media buying, strategy and brand development and creative advertising experts. The dedicated travel team handles marketing, trade representation and communications for hotels, airlines, tourist boards, cruise operators and travel businesses and won Travel Trade Gazette’s award of Best PR and Representation Company for two years in a row. In 2020 I also led the creation of Four’s Place+ service; an agency-wide place-making proposition.

I was a co-founder and ran a travel and hospitality communications and marketing agency with a team of up to forty people. Clients included government tourist boards, airlines, hotels, tour operators, travel agents, technology businesses, digital start-ups and cruise and ferry operators. bgb was sold to Four in 2011 in order to offer a fully integrated service.
