How Lego Changed My Life Using Lego's in the classroom allows me to target the following areas, Language Arts, Math, Science, Public Speaking and Social Skills. The Language Arts skills are covered in the Innovative project required by the First Lego League Competition each year. This is a major part of the competition and my students do well in this area and love it as much as the robotics portion. They are required to design an innovative solution to a given situation. Math and Science are both covered in the building and programming of the robot. Public Speaking and Social Skills comes with meeting other teams and doing the presentations, interviews with the judges, attending public conventions, radio interviews, newspaper interviews, etc. The students must be prepared and willing to speak knowledgeably about their invention and designs at all times. My dream was and still is to make education ¨fun¨ and make sure every child I connected with feels like they belonged to a family that cares and loves them and believes they can do anything they want to do with their life. The 2013-2014 Rebel Robotics Team's success is my greatest accomplishment. If the world stops tomorrow, I have no regrets the 10 kids on my team make me so proud. I am truly blessed to have been allowed to be a part of their life. My parents always encouraged me to believe that I could be who and what I wanted to be. The main thing I had to do was want the dream to get it. Well, I did accomplish part of that dream, I did learn to play some of Liberace favorite pieces, I did play the piano in church and I taught myself how to play the organ. This came with hard work and diligence just as my robot team's accomplishments did this past year.
