For 25 years I worked in the criminal justice field. It was there the groundwork was set for my passion to encourage others to live a life free from the dark and dim places they found themselves because of life and circumstances. I knew through desire and perseverance that new life could be found.So, I used the opportunities given me to shed light on the positive aspect of my career. I used my platform as an Orientation officer to teach the rules and regulations of the jail. I also spoke of the benefits and gift of right choices. Afterwards, I was given an opportunity to host a T. V. Show, “Corrections and the Community”. This show provided resourceful information to the community about programs to help provide better options for those who were in the system. My final role as a Training Officer afforded me the opportunity to train in many areas of Law Enforcement. My passion to encourage staff to adopt a whole health approach to life and career was where I thrived. I developed a health and wellness program to educate staff on physical fitness along with a healthy diet, and lifestyle. Working as a Training Agent provided an opportunity to create a Podcast, called “Cubing Up the Mic”. The Podcast provided an opportunity to highlight staff accomplishments. Although, I have since retired, those experiences and training has led me to continue to shed light in dim places through social media and encouraging those in my area of influence. “Who says, you can’t find light in dark places.
