I manage a progressive & caring Rehabilitation & Wellness Center at Knox Community Hospital. Our philosophy was to create a continuum of care for the healthy & those with injury or other health challenges. We have 5 business lines including Outpatient Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapy as well as Audiology; Inpatient Physical & Occupational Therapy, contracts with Home Health Agencies for Physical & Occupational Therapy; Massage & Wellness Programs. We have 4 locations in Mt. Vernon, Centerburg & Fredericktown. In Mt. Vernon we have our primary location that provides the Rehabilitation services listed above along with massage & wellness programs such as Fitness, Exercise classes (Tai chi, Boot camps, Silver Sneaker programs; Aquatic classes...), weight management programs, golf programs & personal training. We have a therapeutic pool to allow for Aquatic Rehabilitation. In Centerburg we have a Physical Therapy Clinic within Dr. Martinson's Physician Practice & we manage the fitness center at the Centerburg High School. In Fredericktown we manage the fitness center at the Fredericktown School Administration building. Currently we have around 30 professionals. In 2013 we successfully achieved credentialing of our PT's & OT's to allow us to accept direct access into our PT & OT outpatient programs. New exciting programs will follow with this historical movement. We have therapists trained in performing dry needling which is a manual technique that has proven to be extremely beneficial in helping patients decrease or abolish their pain. Therapists & exercise physiologist are now FMS trained, which is an excellent assessment to identify where a person has tightness & weaknesses within their movement patterns allowing us to systematically develop an exercise program to improve movement & help decrease the risk of injury with activities.
