As a storyteller, partnerships builder and visionary project leader, I have often found myself at a nexus of corporate, government and civil collaboration, creating sustainable change. I am a confident self-starter whose key strength is tapping into the expertise of the team for remarkable results. I have extensive experience in public relations, research and development and video production. My years at the U.S. Consulate Cape Town allowed me the joy of becoming a true intrapreneur, successfully proposing, driving, and leading innovative solutions to complex problems within a large bureaucratic environment. In 2015 I launched the "American Corner Cape Town" (ACCT), a multi-million-dollar, state-of-the-art learning facility run in partnership with the City of Cape Town. It serves youth and entrepreneurs with 21st Century skills training and offers a wide range of hi-tech digital and media resources at no cost to the public. By 2018 the ACCT was highest performing space in Africa, providing social upliftment opportunities to thousands of people every month. However, with the desire to reach underserved communities, historically and geographically excluded, I conceptualized and led an innovative “Pop Up” model that partnered with local municipalities and sub-national structures to host ‘bootcamps’ providing work-readiness and entrepreneurial support to thousands of people in rural Northern, Western and Eastern Cape. Most recently, in 2020, when in-person programming came to a halt due to the outbreak of COVID-19, my team was one of the first in the Global Office of American Spaces, to pivot to virtual programming and exponentially grow its online engagement within the first few months of lockdown. In the years preceding that I had the privilege of traveling within Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia to produce, direct and write TV and radio documentaries for various production houses. Many of the stories were about entrepreneurship, education and the lasting effects of social impact investment.
