I tutored high school students in Chemistry, Maths and some Physics and Biology for younger students. I also taught revision Chemistry classes to university level students.

DPhil Studentship in Organometallic Chemistry under the supervision of Professor Geoff Cloke.The research project was on Pd/ N-heterocyclic carbene catalytic systems with specific emphasis on alkyl/ aryl amination coupling reactions. The thesis title is: “Palladium N-Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes as Catalysts for C-N, C-S and C-Si bond formation” • Synthesis of many Pd/NHC complexes with intermediate Pd complexes. Use of Pd/NHC complexes as aryl amination catalysts and isolation of organic cross coupling products.• Transmetallation reactions involving neopentyl lithium, tbutyl lithium, benzyl lithium, mesityl magnesium bromide, p-tolyl magnesium chloride with Pd(COD)Cl2 or Pd(tmeda)Cl2. Only tbutyl lithium, benzyl lithium bought, not synthesised.• Synthesis of N-heterocyclic carbenes and synthetic pathway precursors e.g. diimines, imidazolium salts. • Work primarily undertaken using Schlenk line apparatus (argon/ O2 scrubber) and Braun Glove boxes (one argon, one nitrogen atmosphere) • Regular use of organic techniques including column chromatography, distillations, refluxing, cation exchange resin etc…• Characterisation techniques employed include 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 29Si-NMR, GC-MS, EA and X-ray crystallography.• Worked as a Lab Demonstrator for undergraduate chemistry courses.• Supervised MChem students on a one to one basis in Postgraduate laboratory.• Attended Dalton Discussion 12: Catalytic C-H and C-X Bond Activation at Durham in September 2010.• Publications: Esposito, E.; Roberts, D.
