GEL are an experienced manufacturer of waste containers for the nuclear industry and also make products for the aerospace industry with customers such as Sellafield and Rolls Royce. I have responsibility for quality, health, safety and environmental matters for over 185 employees within an engineering manufacturing environment which includes operational activities within the factory such as machining; robotics; 10kw fibre laser cutting & welding technology; laser profiling; pressing; forming; fabrication; welding; surface treating; polishing; engraving; assembly and office administration activities . Main duties are to ensure the safety of the entire workforce through risk assessment and risk assessment reviews of all company activities. Responsible for all Health, Safety & Environmental systems implementation and running including writing procedures, work instructions, risk assessments, safe systems of work, safety training, tool box talks, briefings on nuclear safety and conducting regular site & equipment inspections. Responsible for implementing and maintaining Integrated Management Systems and ensuring continued certification to ISO9001, ISO14001 & ISO45001. Responsible for keeping the company up to date with any changes or new or amended health, safety or environmental legislation. I am also a Class 4 Laser Safety Officer and a Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH)

• Development, implementation & maintenance of management systems to the requirements of ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 & BS EN 15713 Secure Destruction of Confidential Material• Monitoring and measurement of QHSE statistics, KPIs, preparation of QHSE reports • Conducting Management Reviews• Conducting QHSE compliance audits and managing external audits for ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 • Procedure writing, amendments and document control • Conducting Risk Assessments and risk assessment reviews• Development of Safe Systems of Work• Identification and determination of significant environmental aspects for company activities• Systematic approach to Quality, Environmental and Health & Safety related issues in order to provide a means of controlling risks and improving activities and processes• Contractor and Subcontractor Control• Environmental and Health & Safety Legislative and Regulatory requirements and maintaining and updating legislative registers.• Accident, incident & near miss investigation• Emergency Planning & spillage control• Planning and organising HSE inspections, examinations and monitoring• COSHH Fire, Manual Handling, DSE Risk assessments • Preparation of QHSE budget for all sites• Recording, actioning incidents, complaints and corrective and preventative actions• Liaising with HSE and Environment Agency and external verifiers such as BSI• Providing QHSE training to employees• Organising and conducting H&S Meetings• Planning and delivering tool box talks• Preparing H&S Briefings• Advising on the transport of dangerous goods, ensuring compliance with dangerous goods and hazardous waste procedures• Preparation of Annual DGSA Report• Setting company objectives & targets for improvement • Identifying opportunities for improvement. •Environmental Permit and licence Modifications, Applications and Surrender• Completion of Environment Agency Waste Returns and Hazardous Waste Consignee Returns
