Led 16 staff in awarding and managing $11 million in grants annually to states, tribes, local governments and nonprofits to investigate, clean up and redevelop contaminated sites. Grants resulted in investigation and/or cleanup of more than 1000 sites in a six year period. Coordinated with federal agencies and the Navajo Nation to develop a plan to address abandoned uranium mines on the Navajo Nation and led collaborative investigations of 524 mine sites.

On assignment from the US EPA to the City of East Palo Alto, worked collaboratively with City officials, government agencies, developers and community members to investigate, clean up and redevelop contaminated sites and address other City environmental issues. Collaborated with residents and agencies to develop a community vision for the Cooley Landing Park and Nature Center.

Managed nine project managers with responsibility for cleaning up 25 hazardous waste Superfund sites in California. Represented EPA in public meetings and negotiations with polluters, state and tribal agencies and community groups.

Managed staff and contractors to engage communities in EPA's cleanup decisions at hazardous waste sites. Facilitated community meetings and trained and coached staff in facilitation and community engagement approaches. Mediated and resolved conflicts among EPA staff, management, community members and environmental activists.
