AIG is a leading international insurance organization serving customers in 130+ countries. As a senior business analyst, I work on projects in AIG Retirement Services that have complex functionality with broad scope, involving multiple in-house and vendor systems. As a liaison between our business partners and the development team, one of my primary roles is elicitation and facilitation. Many times with new ventures we find that there are no in-house experts. Sherlock Holmes is my inspiration; I work as a “consulting detective” to use diverse BA techniques to elicit, analyze and model requirements with and for our business partners. My findings take many forms, including modeling, context, and decomposition diagrams. These models enable our stakeholders to see the “big picture”. They help provide insight to the issue at hand, promote in-depth conversation about our current projects, and help with gap analysis. Part of my role includes leadership through collaboration across multiple functional business units to achieve strategic, tactical and project goals. Communication is a key factor, and amiable partnering with IT and my business partners is an unusually successful component of my work.Currently my team is producing robots that will automatically approve retirement applications. I also served as the business project manager in producing a prototype in Salesforce for Advisors. I worked on an initiative brought about by the Department of Labor Fiduciary Rule. As the Business Analyst, I wrote the business requirements for several digital tools with responsive design. We successfully met our tight deadlines and budgets, and delivered the full scope of our users’ expectations. We utilized the Agile methodology. In the past, I worked on an initiative that was exceptionally complicated and multi-layered as it involved four different functional areas, integrating with a vendor solution, while working with a virtual team in diverse geographic locations.

In the role of a Business Analyst, I enjoyed working with clients to develop requirements, and working with the IT team to turn those requirements into a robust solution. My favorite course was Project Management using MS Project. I served as Project Manager, working with diverse teams in project simulation, using the knowledge areas of Project Management. We managed change requests and dealt with risk, and well as earned value. I also taught Intro to Computers using Access Databases, web page development using hand-coded HTML, Word, Excel Spreadsheets and Power Point; Organizational Leadership & Supervision, & Human Resources.
