I started out at the company as a chemist, analyzing nutrient levels in soil, plants, and water as well as monitoring water samples for bacteria levels. I quickly began to add field work to my resume, digging, swimming, and diving for samples throughout Florida. After just 2 years, I was promoted to Project Manager, and began to design, analyze, and execute research projects. My largest contract was with the South Florida Water Management District researching "green" technolgies (mostly treatment wetlands) for removal of nutrients in the Everglades. After 6 years of working with this company, I was offered a chance to attend University of Florida with Dr. Ramesh Reddy as my advisor in Soil and Water Science. I graduated in 2002 with a 4.0 GPA and a successful thesis project in removal and monitoring of phosphorus levels in calcareous soils in the Everglades.
