I am microbiology lab technician with an MSc and BSc in Biomedical Science. My current role involves carrying out batch release testing on cosmetic products as well as PET testing. I am also involved in environmental swab and water testing as well as a range of bespoke tests offered by my employer. My MSc research project was based on the synthesis of metal-antibiotic nanoparticles and efficacy against clinically relevant bacterial strains. Alongside this I will be used bioinformatics to investigate the genomes of those strains to identify genes which contribute to antimicrobial resistance. My main areas of interest are microbiology, pathology, infectious diseases as well as virology and drug development, although microbiology has always been my main passion. My BSc final year research project looked into finding novel antibiotics within natural compounds. I live just outside Preston, have a car and am willing to travel for work. Prior to my current role I worked in customer service for 17 years in a variety of roles from entry level to department management.
