This was varied work on an 'as needed' basis, from strategic consultancy, to advice for smaller businesses looking to get started, to creating customer journeys that connect brands with people.I helped organisations to craft their messages, find their voice and communicate with clarity.

I was delighted to join a New Zealand-grown health and wellness business formulating plant-based products based on centuries of international herbal medicine wisdom, and with a forward-thinking, global outlook. In a small business with big ambitions it was a pleasure to apply my industry and marketing experience in a challenging, always changing, remote working environment. What a year 2020 was for natural health products and retail - but in that time we rationalised and repackaged our entire range, secured range presence in Countdown Pharmacies and Chemist Warehouse, launched new products and built a new website. Green Cross Health is committed to providing the best health support, care and advice the length and breadth of the country. It was fantastic to play a part in delivering on that promise. During the last few years, this rapidly growing organisation has grown from a pharmacy buying group to a provider of primary health care services with a presence in almost every New Zealand community. The Green Cross Health group includes 360+ Unichem and Life Pharmacies, predominantly franchisees, 41 medical centres, and a community health division servicing 21,000 clients. Aligned to the organisation’s vision for developing health and retail services which improve patient experiences, we created a Customer Experience role to work cross-functionally and provide collaborative leadership. This role demands strong strategic and analytical skills to develop and communicate customer value propositions for future health care and retail offers with an equal emphasis on digital and bricks and mortar delivery. Key current projects:• Delivery of digital health engagement innovations across multiple channels, products and platforms • Delivery of personalised customer communications - the next phase of development for the existing Living Rewards engagement programme (1.5 million members). • Leading brand strategy development for three to five-year vision for pharmacy I also lead internal and external communications across pharmacy, medical and the holding group, delivering against a corporate communications plan aligned to business objectives.

Strategic communications and marketing leader for leading primary health care provider Green Cross Health (NZX:GXH). The group includes 350 pharmacies under the Unichem and Life Pharmacy brands, 45 medical centres and a community health division serving around 21,000 clients. The organisation has transformed from a pharmacy buying and marketing group to a provider of primary health care services in almost every New Zealand community in just three years and it is a pleasure to be part of the team leading the change and delivering on commitments to improve the health care journey for people in New Zealand.

On behalf of noodle I worked with clients such as EcoZip Adventures, Nickelodeon, SGS, IRIS Health and many others on a retained or project basis providing PR, publicity and copywriting services.

My marketing services consultancy, Emergence, helped small and growing businesses get the most from their marketing. I worked however it worked for my clients. From in-house communications advisor for a disability services provider to helping launch an antiques business with a full range of marketing and customer engagement tools. Whether it was five hours a month or 15 hours a week I worked with other talented freelancers to create marketing magic for businesses who didn't have the skills or resources on tap. And then there was copywriting. I dedicated almost half my time to writing copy for a variety of clients including agencies and loved every single word of it. During this timeframe I also completed more focused 3-6 month contracts for IRIS Health, Warehouse Stationery and provided PR consultancy via noodle creative marketing.

Held two roles with Noel Leeming group:Marketing Manager for Bond & Bond brand with responsibility for marketing planning, budget and team management (three direct reports). After an 18 month period in this role I stepped into a role as Customer Innovations Manager with responsibility for CRM, direct marketing including communications programmes with Fly Buys, market analytics and strategic projects such as the development and implementation of a store within store concept for mobile phones, partnering with Telecom and Vodafone to create in-store displays and marketing programmes.

Multi-client consultancy at a senior management level for Progressive Enterprises (scoping, researching, presenting and implementing Onecard), Healtheries (centenary communications strategy and implementation), NZ Immigration Services e-branch, Retail Technologies, Xtra. During this period I took three months maternity leave in 2003 and then in September 2004 took eight months maternity leave before moving to a permanent role at Noel Leeming Group.

Sales Promotion and Advertising Manager contract role with responsibility for CSR strategy and developing growth categories then moved to cover extended leave for the Marketing Manager with full responsibility for team, budget and all communications programmes. Provided team guidance and support through the takeover by Progressive Enterprises and was offered a permanent marketing management role within the new organisation but chose to leave to freelance, ending up contracting back for a major project with Progressive to develop the Onecard loyalty programme.

More dream marketing roles which I was invited to take up ...as part of a small incubation unit sitting outside of BT, we launched mobile internet services to the UK market when WAP and SMS were unheard of. This was a game changing project to work on and a mass consumer market to reach, to stay ahead of the competition. No soft launches here. Time frames were short, budgets were large and the people I worked with were talented, driven and at the top of their game. What's not to love? I was then asked to join Alta Vista internet as European Marketing Manager before leaving the UK for NZ....
