In my 40 years of work experience, I have deemed myself the proverbial "Jack of All Trades" and a "Professional Student". I am mother of two sons and a proud grandmother to a precious little girl, I worked in Corporate America, the Mom & Pop workforce, and found a desire for learning when I became a college student for the first time at 43 years of age. In July of 2003, I found my passion though as an AmeriCorps member in a one-on-one tutoring program that worked with public elementary schools teaching k-5 students to read. After two years of direct service, I returned home to Oklahoma where I am serving as an AmeriCorps VISTA for the national recognized youth mentoring organization of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Oklahoma. What I have discovered about myself, my community, and the leadership and devotion of many many service members and local volunteers is 'a common cause'.
