Debdoot Sheet is Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering and Artificial Intelligence at Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur since 2024 where he joined as an Assistant Professor in 2014. He received Ph. D. with highest distinction for contributions to computational medical imaging and machine learning from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India in 2014; M. S. in medical science and technology from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India in 2010; and B. Tech in electronics and communication engineering from the West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata, India for studies at Institute of Engineering and Management, Kolkata, India in 2008. His research interests include machine learning, deep learning and compute platforms optimisation, medical imaging physics, image and multidimensional signal processing, and visualisation. He has co-invented related inventions filed and granted as international patents, and co-authored articles published at top of the line journals, conferences, books and chapters. He is a Senior Member of IEEE since 2019, has received the IEEE SPS Distinguished Volunteer Recognition, 2023, IEM Distinguished Alumni Award 2022, IEM Distinguished Young Alumni Award 2016, the GE Edison Challenge 2013, the Fraunhofer Applications Award at the Indo German Grand Science Slam 2012, IEEE Computer Society Richard E. Merwin Student Scholarship 2012, DAAD Sandwich Model PhD Fellowship 2011. He was the organizing chair of IEEE International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging, 2022 in Kolkata India, and has served as Regional Editor of IEEE PULSE 2014-2018.
