Community OrganizerObama For America Jan 2008 - Nov 2008My active volunteerism began in 2008 when I worked in Carson City, NV before the Nevada caucuses in January, and I was involved with organizing in the Napa Valley before the CA primary in February. To compensate for my deafness and inability to use a telephone during phone banks, I did data entry into VoteBuilder the program used by the Obama Campaign for maintaining voter records. My husband and I were local Neighborhood Leads. Despite the economy, we donated $2500 to the campaign, in hopes our efforts would pay off, which they did. I coordinated campaign events and phone banks in our home. I volunteered at the Democratic Convention in Denver, and Santa Fe, NM. In October, I organized a group of volunteers to spend three days in NV where we were involved in door-to-door canvassing to Get Out the Vote. I did data entry exclusively during the final days of the campaign which ultimately led to Barack Obama's undisputed win to become our next President of the United States. -
