Social Services Intake Clerk
Current- Respond to in-person, telephone and electronic inquiries for social service programs and assistance- Provide verbal and written information as required to client on eligibility, documentation, and application process for Ontario Works and Rent-Geared-To-Income (RGI) subsidized housing- Complete pre-screening interviews with participant for financial assistance from Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP), Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI), and Discretionary Benefit- Assist individuals with in-person application for Ontario Works including emergency assistance- Request Ontario Works file transfer in from other municipalities and transfer clients’ file out based on change in clients’ residential address- Utilize SAMS database to provide information to clients on the status of their file, monthly entitlement, and over payment charges- Prepare replacement T5 for participants and create file notes in SAMS- Process applications for RGI subsidized housing using Rentcafé software- Conduct province-wide search in the Arrears database to verify applicants meet the eligibility for RGI- Prepare correspondence and contact clients via telephone and email to provide information regarding the status of their application for RGI- Update applicants’ information in Rentcafé to maintain their spot on the Centralized Waiting List- Receive, and process rent payment and other accounts receivable payment including arrears and maintenance fees through various payment methods of cash, interac, cheque, and postdated cheques- Process maintenance requests for current RGI tenants and prepare work orders using Yardi database- Locate tenants’ ledger in YARDI and provide information regarding rent payment, rent increase, outstanding fees, arrears, and other charges- Support the department reception and perform switchboard functions such as answering and directing calls to appropriate person
