Conduct due diligence on transactions and processes in order to determine the risk profile and compliance with relevant regulations. Independently collate and analyze data using The Zurich Way of Underwriting, making recommendations within assigned authority levels to support the decision to provide new and renewal underwriting business. Assess and evaluate underwriting processes in order to implement agreed technical standards, controls, practices and procedures, maintaining underwriting disciplines and identifying opportunities for improvements. Review assigned customer cases, prioritize case load and interpret established policies, applying discretion within authority limits in order to resolve customer issues. Handle and resolve a range of queries from customers, providing advice and supporting the development of an account to create additional value for the organization and customers. Provide specialist advisory support to internal clients on a daily basis, by being focal point of contact, to ensure that there is no misalignment between policy and practice.

Work on assigned lines of business. Provide support to members of the underwriting department in the areas of underwriting operations, procedures and policy endorsements and policies. Computes rates and premiums for policies, maintain monthly activity log and clears accounts for underwriter review.

Prepare pre-bind underwriter documentation & enter general information into the underwriting documentation forms and quote proposals. Review and approve transactions processed by Operations processors. Review renewals and provide appropriate instructions and legal notice wording to the Operations processors with final approval by the underwriter. Communicate as needed with Operations Management, Underwriter Management, Underwriters, Accounting, Premium Audit, Loss Control and Reinsurance to answer policy questions and resolve issues. Communicate with producers as needed to obtain information to review, approve and/or verify the transaction within their authority.

Rate and issue all types of insurance policies in an accurate and timely manner. Process endorsement, cancellation and cancel/rewrite transactions. Perform simple underwriting tasks such as coding of risks and pre-qualification of risks under the supervision of the underwriter. Effectively and efficiently manage agency relationships to ensure the accuracy of all transactions. Discuss & handle all but the most complex questions, requests and problems from customers.
