I now apply my operations, human capital, and customer service acumen as a board director for multiple public and private companies as well as not-for-profit organizations.As Executive Vice President of Human Resources and Corporate Services at NextEra Energy, I:● Was part of a team that helped the company earn numerous corporate recognitions for sustainability, ethics, and diversity, including a Fortune “World’s Most Admired Companies” designation.● Collaborated to transform Next Era’s health benefits system, drive record-high company safety performance, and modernize career development paths. ● Supported the transition of the company’s CEO, ten board members, and more than a dozen senior officers. Upon my retirement in 2024, I was incredibly moved and humbled to be recognized with a new, annual namesake award—the Deborah H. Caplan Elevate Award—awarded to dynamic women leaders at NextEra and to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Urban League of Palm Beach County.Previously, I served as COO of Florida Power & Light, a NextEra subsidiary, where I played a key role in creating a smarter, more reliable energy grid for one of the largest state-regulated electric utilities nationwide. I also led sourcing and logistics of more than $5B in goods and services as Vice President of Integrated Supply Chain. I began my career as an engineer and manufacturing executive at GE Aircraft Engines before transitioning into Six Sigma and Global Operations leadership roles for GE Capital. Along with my public board service with Valmont Industries, Arthur J. Gallagher, and Mid-America Apartments I have been a valued member of multiple not-for-profit and industry boards focused on education, health, and community impact.
