Responsible for providing representation and counsel to all Morgan Stanley’s business units across Asia Pacific, handling all aspects of civil and criminal litigation, regulatory matters, client complaints, and internal investigations in areas including, but not limited to, white collar crime, securities law, antitrust, intellectual property, and labor and employment.

Primary adviser to all Morgan Stanley’s business units across Asia Pacific on anti-corruption matters, including regulatory investigations, transactional due diligence, retention of third parties, and contractual protections.

Responsible for significant litigations, from directing legal strategy to handling motion practice, pleadings and discovery. Core member of small in-house team handling Avon’s SEC and DOJ FCPA investigation, which settled in 2014 for $135 million, strategically driving international coordination of investigation in China and elsewhere.Areas of focus: securities class actions, shareholder derivative litigations, false advertising class actions, California’s Proposition 65 litigation, litigation contingencies worldwide, government investigations and inquiries.

Focus on White Collar Litigation, Investigations, and Commercial Litigation.Represented and defended major corporations in investigations and inquiries into violations of the federal securities laws, including interviews with key fact witnesses, document analysis, advocacy, and advice on remedial action. Successfully defended individual defendant charged in 73-count criminal indictment.Advised and represented corporate clients on a variety of civil matters, including contract interpretation, breach of contract claims, false advertising, and employment actions. Drafted pleadings and settlement and release agreements; prepared for and second-chaired depositions and arbitrations.Directed E-discovery for numerous matters, including identification of relevant custodians, issuance of litigation holds, collection of electronic and hard copy documents, and document review and analysis.Drafted and filed upwards of thirty cases seeking over $1.3 billion on behalf of Irving Picard as Trustee for the Liquidation of Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC (“BLMIS”) against recipients of initial and subsequent transfers from BLMIS. Coordinated with foreign counsel concerning discovery in light of Privacy Act concerns.
