Since 'retiring' I picked have up my pace: volunteering since 1995 with HRSAR, & Habitat on 15 builds since 2005 plus hundreds of hours in the ReStore. I am a multi-tasker taking on whatever we need accordingly from overhead, team leader, crew leader, merchandising, etc. (I also served the Canadian Red Cross for 10 yrs as a Team Member, 2IC, Team Leader & Shelter Manager with US emergency relief deployment.)And to do just a little more I have volunteered for most major events in HRM since 2000: Tall Ships, ECMA's, Junos, Navy 100, Briers, Canada Games in the PolyClinic, & so on in many capacities. Loved billeting an athlete & volunteering at the Epic Dartmouth events end of June- early July ’13To round things off I have served as a board member for non-for-profit & charitable organizations locally, provincially, & an elected national position.Being privileged to have run as the NDP candidate for DAEA in election 2013 is another highlight in my life!Volunteering makes my soul happy. Our world, as we know it, cannot function without volunteers: get out there & help!

--> With Halifax Regional SAR: active fund raiser coordinating 1 yearly event, searching, sit on membership & ways / means committees, HAT - Adventure Smart Trainer.--> With Habitat for Humanity NS: Leadership. Training / safety orientation of our new volunteers, (in the ReStore and on our build sites) Customer service, handling cash, PR, Crew Leader on build sites.

My responsibilities with HRSAR & HfHNS require varied skills including: Agile thinking, flexibility, leadership, strong organizational talent, listening, analytical, & communications skills. Often physical & emotional strength is tested as well!

Nsg career entirely in the critical care mainly in the OR with some ER. On to Medical SalesNow a 'chronic' volunteer in my commuity & abroad.
