• Led a nano-confined water project that investigated the association between wettability, interfacial viscosity, and the slip of water at the solid boundary using an atomic force microscope (AFM). The results were submitted to Nature Nanotechnology.• Characterized the nanoscale roughness, morphology and wettability of various surfaces, including metals, self-assembled monolayers, semi-metals, semiconductors and insulators, etc. using an AFM scanning electron microscope (SEM), ellipsometry and contact angle experiments.• Designed/performed experiments, prepared/tested materials and liquids, analyzed data and summarized results to investigate the interfacial viscosity and rheology of nano- confined water and OMCTS (a silicon oil).• Trained and supervised two undergraduates on a joint experimental and theoretical project that investigated the change in Wenzel/Cassie wettability for superhydrophobic surfaces.
