I was born in Chapel Hill, and my father would say in later years I was the only woman he knew who could be sitting watching a Carolina basketball game and stand up straight without ever bending my knees. I am currently a VP with Samsara Management Group as the Head of Strategic Initiatives. I was with UN Peacekeeping for two decades and a Director at DynCorp. A one year stint in Poland with UNDP followed by another in Switzerland with the UN Volunteers lead to peacekeeping assignments in Somalia, Rwanda and Bosnia. I spent a decade at UNHQ in Manhattan, and five years in D.C. with the UN, DynCorp International as a Director for Business Development and USAID after the Haiti Earthquake. I've been at various times a political affairs officer, a logistics and operations officer and held several liaison and press officer posts. I backstopped political, electoral, humanitarian and nation-building processes along with peace negotiations in both Sudan, South Sudan, Libya, Italy and Fiji. I hold numerous Red Cross certifications and responded to the ice storms in upstate NY, Hurricane Katrina, the Ground Zero attacks in Manhattan, Hurricane Ike, the BP Oil Spill (pulling oiled pelicans off the water), the tornadoes in North Carolina and Alabama and New Jersey post-Hurricane Sandy.I'm an avid cook, reader, art collector and film buff. Professionally and personally, I do best where the Avenues of Do Good and Make Good intersect.
