The board of Hope Academy is dedicated to launching and sustaining the first high school for students recovering from substance use disorders in South Carolina. Since November, I've been working to align our communication, fundraising, and board development efforts with our strategic plan.

Founded in 1997 East Lake is an non-denominational church serving the Irmo, Ballentine, and Chapin communities with a weekly attendance of 1000 adults, students and kids. I held a series of positions with progressive responsibility and oversight in which I honed skills in:--Vision casting, strategic goal-setting, and team building--Managing transitions in leadership--Recruiting, developing, and, when necessary, firing staff and volunteers--Using databases to manage volunteer recruitment, follow-up, and support--Budgeting--Event planning--Public speakingPastor of Spiritual Formation/Program ManagerAs second in charge to the lead pastor, my role involved a blend of staff oversight and direct program management. --Directly supervised 7 staff and their 300 volunteers--Oversaw programs comprising roughly 50% of a $1.3 million budget, including community outreach, children/youth/adult education, small groups, volunteer recruitment, hospitality, and administrative services. --Led curriculum development teams for adult and children’s programs. Designed learning objectives, structure, and content for 6 years of 
material. Led writing and editing teams.--Provided quality and brand control for corporate communications 
including website and social media. Small Groups Pastor, 2008-2011--Reversed dwindling adult small group participation from 30% of 
adult Sunday attendance to 50% within 2 years. --Increased visibility and value given to 60 volunteer small group leaders via training, personal coaching, and public recognitionFamily Pastor/Children’s Pastor 2002-2008--Cast vision and led charge to implement new model of ministry.--Initiated community care program providing mentoring to school children.--Organized special events including:Annual community egg hunt (10,000 eggs) for 3 years.Monthly stage show for audience of 250 that ran for 7 years.Fun run raising $10,000 annually to support community mentoring program.

As a part-time, contract employee, I provided in-home services to families who had children with hearing impairments. --Conducted developmental 
assessments--helped parents identify communication and developmental objectives--modeled activities tailored to the home to achieve the objectives.

I worked for a government contractor providing training courses to the 
departments of Defense and Energy. --Reviewed and responded to federal requests for proposals. Part of team that won $5 million contract.--Managed client projects and relationships. Ensured compliance with 
contracts. Approved billing of clients.--Vetted, hired, and managed team of subject matter experts, instructors, and graphic artists who generated materials to meet client specifications. --Evaluated instructors’ performances and incorporated client feedback.
