Houston ISD is the seventh largest public school district in the United States with more than 300 campuses and support facilities. • Developed districtwide programs related to education and awareness, green cleaning, water conservation as well as waste reduction and diversion for multiple waste streams. • Developed and implemented a districtwide educational and awareness campaign for Earth Month within the first 7 weeks of employment. The program was created using internal staff and resources.• Managed water conservation programs including tracking and collection of water credits for cooling towers under the City of Houston evaporative credit program. The evaporative credit program generated over $100,000 in credits in the first year.• Managed a grant to implement waste diversion measures within the district. Grant funds were used to obtain over 3,400 recycling bins and conduct waste audits at 7 campuses. Food waste reduction initiatives were piloted based upon initial audit results and measurable reductions in food waste were observed during the post-pilot audits.• Member of all cross-functional evaluation teams related to the solicitation and procurement of waste disposal and recycling contracts. The electronics recycling contract is a source of revenue for HISD.• Mentored a direct report who started with no background in sustainability to a level that she could effectively run the established sustainability projects upon my departure.

Senior member of an environmental consulting firm specializing in turnkey environmental compliance services for independent oil producers and refineries in California. • Assisted clients in obtaining operating permits for oilfield equipment, including calculating emissions, completing permit applications and negotiating with regulatory personnel. • Conducted pre-demolition asbestos inspections as well as asbestos removal oversight. • Performed Phase I environmental site assessments on facilities ranging in size from gas stations to complete oilfield facilities.

Developed a comprehensive Indoor Air Quality program for 80+ County-owned facilities. Responded to occupant complaints and conducted complex indoor air quality studies. Identified potential sources of airborne contaminants and coordinated remediation efforts.• Designed and built Microsoft Access databases and reports for managing environmental sample data as well as tracking indoor air quality complaints. The databases provided at-a-glance information on a building-by-building basis and consolidated data previously stored in different locations.• Developed and implemented an in-house asbestos training program for 120+ building maintenance personnel. Providing in-house training courses saved approximately 60 man-days of time and permitted emphasis of County-specific policies and procedures.
