Deborah Ryan currently serves as the Americas Chair of the Global Real Estate Practice of Squire Patton Boggs. Prior to Patton Boggs' merger with Squire Sanders, Debbie served as the Co-Chair of the Business Department and Chair of the Real Estate Practice Group of Patton Boggs. She has devoted her practice to all aspects of commercial real estate investment, development and finance. She has represented landlords and tenants in ground leases, retail and office leases. She has represented both sellers and purchasers in the acquisition of real estate and partnership interests. Ms. Ryan has represented lenders in construction lending and developers in connection with development and redevelopment of complex, high profile properties, including historic properties, many of which involve economic incentives such as tax increment financing, tax abatements or other economic development tools. Ms. Ryan is a recognized expert in mixed-use and residential condominium developments governed by the Texas Uniform Condominium Act and the Interstate Land Sales Full Disclosure Act.Ms. Ryan began her practice in 1984. She has extensive experience in real estate workouts, foreclosures,and structured workouts. Ms. Ryan has advised lenders, developers and investors on distressed debt and assets, default strategy, real estate workouts, pre-foreclosure strategy, foreclosure and acquisition and disposition of distressed real estate and debt. Ms. Ryan also uses her deal management and real property skills serving renewable energy clients. She is an active member of the Patton Boggs Renewable Energy Team comprised of business, policy and regulatory lawyers representing lenders and developers and service providers in the renewable energy sector. She has acted as lead Texas counsel for large loans for wind and solar projects where the Patton Boggs provided a wide range of legal advice including real estate. She has also worked on site development agreements for wind development projects.
