As Finance Manager Tankships Division, I am responsible for 8 reporting companies within the group of James Fisher & Sons Plc. The Tankships division currently makes up 12% of group turnover and 18% of group operating profit. Reporting directly to the MD and FD I am responsible for the daily operations of a busy finance department consisting of 3 management accountants and 4 accounts assistants, maintaining accurate ledgers, credit control and treasury management, VAT submissions, preparation of monthly management accounts, monthly KPI's, preparation of annual statutory accounts, annual financial audit, quarterly forecasts and annual budget preparation. As a member of the senior management team over the past 3 years I have been a regular attendee at board meetings which has allowed me to align strategy with the financial data I supply to operational management, strengthening decision making. Preparing annual budgets and rolling quarterly forecasts which are aligned with strategic planning, being both challenging and attainable. Providing timely, detailed variance and productivity analysis has seen operating profit increase +15% over this period. Treasury management and working capital is one of my strengths and over the period I have improved cash conversion +12% with underlying cash flows in USD, Euro and GBP. I was the finance lead implementing a new procurement IT system.I am committed to developing my team to their full potential, setting suitable objectives and identifying training. I have supported one graduate trainee to full chartered accountant status and have a further two graduates under the same training scheme.During my current role I gained full membership of CIMA in 2013 within 3 years, all first time passes and have continued my CPD in project management and courses designed to further my career towards Finance Director.
