The RRLIP is an indirect service, funded by IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada). Overseen by a Community Partnership Council and informed by an Immigrant Advisory Table, the RRLIP works with community stakeholders to provide coordination, support and targeted resources in their work with newcomers to the community. As part of the RRLIP team, I have been involved in developing and administering newcomer surveys, organizing Community Forums and Newcomer Employment Week, coordinating and facilitating meetings, developing community resources highlighting services (Ethnic Grocery Stores, Conversation Circles, Mental Wellness Resources, etc.), and writing Newcomer News (plain-language information about services of relevance to newcomers, blog posts and collaborating on reports, and minutes of the various committees).
