Deb Vanderpool, MS, RDN, CSSD, CDCES, is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, and a Board Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from SUNY Plattsburgh and completed her dietetic internship and Master’s degree in Exercise Science from Syracuse University. Deb brings 25 years of experience and expertise in nutrition and fitness to her present position with Central Virginia Health Services. Her past experience includes clinical and outpatient settings in Memphis TN, Chapel Hill, NC, along with many years in Rochester and Syracuse NY. Her specialization in eating disorders includes working with patients and families at Selah of the Carolinas and The Hearth Center for Eating Disorders, Columbia, SC, Harmony Place, Rochester, NY, New York’s only residential eating disorder facility, and University of North Carolina Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders Program. Her diverse background also includes positions as corporate wellness coordinator, adjunct professor, corporate consultant, and CrossFit and Tsunami Bars trainer. She has maintained her private practice throughout the years offering individual consults and numerous presentations for sports teams and various groups on topics in general nutrition, wellness, sports nutrition, and eating disorders. Deb enjoys motivating others to achieve success with food choices as well as body weight and composition for optimal health and athletic performance. Her passion for overall wellness is evident by her enthusiasm for helping others achieve their personal nutrition, health, and fitness goals. Deb is also a competitive age-group runner and multi-sport athlete; completing numerous marathons and triathlons, including eleven Ironman events.
