About Deborah Werbner
Deborah is Co- founder of OliTool Ltd and it's sister company Ogenblik Ltd., start-ups engaged in the Internet of Things. We make digitally connected objects evocative and sustainable, with a current product line focusing on educational technology and wellbeing. In 2019, Ogenblik Ltd. was awarded an Innovate UK SMART AWARD to adapt and user test OliTool®️ for children with special needs and their support networks. We were proud to have completed all stakeholder co-design, app development, prototype development and conduct User Trials in 3 English primary schools - all during a global pandemic and three lockdowns! Our aim: to produce an evidence based tool grounded in participatory design and focusing on social and emotional learning, to meet the challenges children with SEN and their supporters face in schools on a day to day basis. In 2022, OliTool was awarded a grant from the UK's NIHR in order to redesign the OliTool app for children with special needs, based upon the feedback from the user trial . OliTool has partnered with the Carnegie School of Education, Leeds Beckett University and the research department of Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust to assist in co-design for the app redesign. We are fundraising to complete the redesign of the entire system and pilot in schools. We are keen to work with European partners where inclusive education is a priority and introduce the benefits of social and emotional learning to a European cohort. The current development work follows from our company's participation in EDUCATE, a UCL initiative to train Ed Tech entrepreneurs in evidence based research. Our original funding came from a Nominet Trust seed grant in 2016 which allowed us to develop and trial at Exeter University to positive results, the first iteration of OliTool®️, comprised of a haptic device and App to help people reach their behavioural health goals. Advancing product development, Deborah also completed a residency with Professor Jonny Freeman as Creative Entrepreneur in Residence at Goldsmiths University of the Arts London. Deborah previously worked as a freelance consultant, researcher and writer in art, craft and design, with particular interest in the junction between craft and technology. Prior to her career as an artist, maker and designer, Deborah, a U.S. trained lawyer, worked as an attorney with a specialisation in the entertainment industry, broadcasting and copyright. Her undergraduate background was in psychology and child development.
Listed skills include Art, Research, Sculpture, Crafts, and 13 others.

Co- Founder
Ogenblik was established in 2014 with a mission to develop engaging, affordable and accessible evidence-based digital tools to help people reach their psychological and physical wellbeing goals. OliTool®, our first product in development, incorporates a structured method for articulating aspirations and helping people overcome habits and behaviours that may frustrate wellbeing. It draws on validated cognitive behaviour therapy and behaviour change practices to address concerns such as anxiety and worry, chronic pain and addictive behaviours. OliTool®️ consists of a handheld digitally enabled physical object and a bespoke companion app. Oli, the 'holdable', allows for discrete 'bookmarking' of moments in real time to capture the lived experience. Accomplished with simple gestures in the hand, bookmarking taps into our sense of touch to increase engagement and motivation. OliTool®️ enables insights into behavioural and emotional triggers and patterns and can be used in self management or therapy contexts. OliTool®️ provides coping strategies that support new behaviours facilitating progress towards personal goals. By offering seamless sharing of information about daily life, OliTool®️ can aid the therapy process and support communication with friends and family. We are now adapting OliTool for children with special needs thanks to a grant from Innovate UK.
