She was head of the sustainable tourism department at Wild Asia and was the catalyst of the Sustainable Tourism Talks at ITB Asia for over 5 years. She has assessed over 70 sustainable tourism operators across Asia and worked with world-class brands such as Soneva Resorts, Hilton Hotels & Shangri-La Resorts. >> She also has over 15 years of experience in community and rural development work. She spent two years in Battambang, Cambodia partnering with an international NGO to build rural literacy centres, train local teachers and spearhead a volunteering program called STORM, short for “Short Term Operation Relief Mission” where she had the privilege of hosting over 200 volunteers and raising awareness about effective international aid and community development. Previously, she has also invested time in local communities in Sarawak and Sabah (Malaysia), Aceh and Dumai (Indonesia), New York (USA) and Chiangmai (Thailand). >> She is currently based in Sabah, Malaysia and is passionate about bridging the gap between corporations and local communities by creating strategies to make CSR an integral and meaningful part of profit-making businesses. >> Deb authored "Live To Last" (www.livetolastbook.com), a heart-gripping memoir written to inspire youth and young adults to step up and step out to make a difference in this world.
