I've spent my career doing what I love, developing marketing and business development strategies and training for professional service firms and individuals. I've also helped several firms build or better organize their marketing function. In order to create an effective marketing program, strategy must come first. No two assignments are alike. While the tools may be similar (e.g.,due diligence, analysis, recommendations) the firm's and individual's needs are always unique. I created and managed the marketing departments for two of the world’s most respected law firms, Cravath, Swaine & Moore and Debevoise & Plimpton. I joined after a role as a marketing specialist at the international consulting firm Towers Watson, and worked in public relations at Ketchum Communications. Between all of it, I’ve taught classes in marketing and business development at New York University and have lectured at Penn Law, Cornell Law School and others. (I admit. I drink a lot of coffee.)Innovative BD and Marketing PlansToday, I work with company leaders and C-suite professionals to produce innovative solutions in the area of strategic planning, business development and marketing communications. All of these approaches are geared towards driving profitability and helping companies and individuals attain complex business objectives. Marketing DepartmentsThrough my work, leading teams of lawyers and other professionals, I’ve developed an expertise in the area of departmental development and reorganization, business development systems, client and customer service programs and brand management. Training and CoachingI develop and conduct customized business development training programs for various law firms. Each year, I accept up to 10 motivated coaching clients, talented people who are driven to succeed, yet want the tools to get there. I've worked with leaders in virtually all practice areas at AmLaw 100 firms. Presentations I am a regular speaker at law and consulting firm retreats, and produce bespoke programs on business development. I enjoy sharing the knowledge I've gained conducting researching for my book "Best Practices," from working with a wide range of clients, and through my work as a CMO.The Book“Best Practices in Law Firm Business Development and Marketing” (PLI, 2019) is based on 60+ interviews of law firm leaders, innovators, academics and marketers. It was my own way of making sure I knew as much as possible about what was working and what wasn’t in the area of law firm management and marketing.
