Deborah Jian Lee is an award-winning journalist, radio producer, and author of Rescuing Jesus: How People of Color, Women and Queer Christians are Reclaiming Evangelicalism. She is a senior editor and reporter at The Economic Hardship Reporting Project, a nonprofit journalism organization supporting independent journalists covering economic inequality in America. She is also a journalism fellow at Harvard Divinity School, where she teaches divinity school students and works with a team of professionals and scholars to advance religious literacy in public life.She contributes to many publications, including Esquire, Fast Company, Foreign Policy, ELLE, Slate, Playboy, TIME, WBEZ, WNYC, Forbes and others. She was named a finalist for the Livingston Awards for a Foreign Policy series about the children of migrant workers in China and won a Newswomen’s Club of New York Front Page Award for a WBEZ documentary about the consequences of China's gender imbalance, both supported by the Pulitzer Center.Previously, she worked as a staff reporter for the Associated Press and taught journalism at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and Manhattanville College.
