Her work addresses the intersection of Performance Art and its history and practice. In addition, her curatorial focus emphasizes the discursive exchange between live practice and audience participation. She is the curator/founder of Irrational Exhibits; irrationalexhibits.com, an immersive performance/installation exhibition series she began in 2001 at Track 16 Gallery. Since Irrational Exhibits 1st launched in 2001 there have been 10 separate exhibitions. Over 175 artists have participated in these shows. Irrational Exhibits: Mapping the Divide 10th Anniversary Exhibition took place June 2 - June 10, 2017, at the Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions. Support for Irrational Exhibits 10: Mapping the Divide is provided by the Metabolic Studio, a direct charitable activity of the Annenberg Foundation.Oliver’s work spans the realms of action and production pedagogy and curatorial practices. Oliver teaches at the University of California Irvine. She teaches Performance Art, the History of Performance Art, New Genres, and Performance and the Camera. In her Performance Art classes, she collaborates with her undergraduate students to present quarterly student public performances, presenting over 40 public events since 1998. She recently co-founded “The Art of Performance in Irvine,” an annual performance event, at UCI in the Experimental Media and Performance Lab. The 3rd edition will take place in the Fall 2017. Oliver co-curated “Un-Space Ground”, a site-specific public visual and performance event. This event was in coordination with Ed Woodham from Art in Odd Places in NYC for The College Art Association (CAA). It was part of a symposium on “Art in the Public Realm.” She was commissioned by the CAA to produce a documentary on this performance.

A performance, installation, and video art annual exhibition since 2001. Eight editions of the show were held at Track16 Gallery at Bergamot Station, Santa Monica, and IE 9 & IE10 were presented by LACE Gallery and IE11 was presented at the Bendix Building in Downtown Los Angeles at five participating galleries. A performance, installation, and video art annual exhibition since 2001. Eight editions of the show were held at Track16 Gallery at Bergamot Station, Santa Monica, and IE 9 & IE10 were presented by LACE Gallery and IE11 was presented at the Bendix Building in Downtown Los Angeles at five participating galleries. The series has featured over 300 artists and welcomed an audience numbering in the thousands. In curating these shows I bring in work from current UCI graduate students and recent graduates, students at other universities, and current professional artists. This gives the students exposure to the art community as well as an opportunity to cross-pollinate with known and experienced professionals. The ninth edition of Irrational Exhibits will be mounted in 2014.Since 2009, I have curated and produced four major art events in the Los Angeles Area: Unspace Ground (2012), a site-specific outdoor performance event co-curated with Ed Woodham for the 2012 College Art Association Conference at the LA Convention center; REDCAT Fall Studio (2012), the REDCAT theater's quarterly series devoted to experimental performance and interdisciplinary work; Irrational Exhibits 8 (2011); R.A.W. (2009), the Pasadena Arts Alliance's fundraiser event featuring live performance and large scale video projections held at the historic Bingo Building at The Brewery; and Irrational Exhibits 7 (2009).
