I really enjoyed the relationship you build up with clients working in your own practice as opposed to a big firm which is more impersonal. I will miss them but it is good to know as I move on to new things that my clients are being well looked after now by Jayne and Ian Boucher at Moneywise Midlands.

Personal and Trust work, increased Trust and IHT exposure. I had gone for a 2 day a week maternity cover role, you will see from the dates it was a long pregnancy! The firm were happy for me to carry on with my own practice in Kidderminster which was great. It was good to be back in an office for a while, enjoyed the camaraderie, good training updates and some interesting cases to get my teeth into. But it was only meant to be 12 months and I eventually decided I needed to concentrate on my own practice. One benefit of working for myself rather than a big firm is the direct client contact which I do enjoy. Did some studying with STEP to boost my knowledge of estate planning etc which was needed in this job and has proved valuable in my own practice.

Great place to work. Very sound technically, they used to publish text books which some more vintage accountants will remember!. Later got gobbled up, I think into Touche Ross and Deloittes. Mainly worked here on professional partnerships, solicitors and especially medical. Did some lecturing on behalf of the firm with the BMA. Also some trust and more advisory work. Was very happy there, only left for the adventure of two years living in Spain due to my husband's job; I taught English to keep busy!

Back in the days when it was Thornton Baker. Execellent training here meant I became the youngest ATII at that time (means I passed the Institute of Tax Exams) at the age of 20. A good spread of experience between different departments including agriculture. Happy memories of good mates in Bristol and fun on training courses at Bradenham Manor.
