Debra Irizarry is a Clinical /Creative Art Therapist at Chemawa Indian school and a Fine and New media artist. Her goal is to help people empower themselves with the use of new media technology, traditional art and mental health modalities such as mindfulness, positive psychology, CBT and DBT informed therapy. She enjoys being able to use psychology and the expressive arts to help empower individuals of all ages and mental health needs. The therapeutic qualities of the art creative process within diverse expressive art modalities observed by Debra as artist and therapist through the years has prompted her to do research in how these can be used together to help people of all ages that are struggling with mental health difficulties achieve a better outcome in life. Debra is experienced in helping children, adolescents, adults, couples and family therapy struggling with depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, personality disorders, eating disorders, LGBT needs among others. She is multiculturally sensitive and speaks Spanish as well. She was born in NYC and grew up in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
