Debra Kellner’s work has been described as poignant, haunting, deeply human, visually stunning, and intimately powerful. She began a career as a photojournalist working for magazines such as the National Geographic, Paris Match, Geo, and Stern. Parallel to her career as a photographer, she became the filmmaker she is today.Debra has worked and travelled extensively across the globe, including Chile, Colombia, Peru, and has lived in the Far East, Nepal, India, and Europe for most of her adult life. Her talent for traveling and working in remote locations, combined with her compassion has guided her to direct deeply thought provoking evocative content that address the issues that affect people around the globe.Her feature documentary “Inside My Heart” chronicled the plight of three refugee families fleeing their war torn countries over a period of three years. Despite the families having lost everything and their harrowing stories, Kellner followed each family for extended periods and was relentless in her heart-breaking coverage. Inside My Heart premiered at the Vancouver Film Festival and was shown at South by Southwest and went on to be distributed by STARS, CBC, Public SENAT, and channels throughout the Arabic speaking world. Her work has been shown at embassies, universities and prestigious universities throughout the world.Her award winning recent film, Eternal Sky, follows in the footsteps of some of the world's leading astrophysicists as they seek to unravel the origins of time. Set against the remote Andes in the Chilean Atacama desert, the film tells an intimate story behind one of science's most competitive races: the hunt for the origins of our cosmos. Debra continues is currently preparing her feature film, a Buddhist comedy set in the Nepalese Himalaya and India.
