As part of this role I have: Reviewed and analysed proposed legislative amendments related to dangerous goods, hazardous chemicals and major hazard facilities to identify potential impacts on Toll and the broader industry Driven improved knowledge of dangerous goods, hazardous chemicals, process safety and major hazard facility safety and compliance risks, and improved safety outcomes through the design and implementation of strategic programs and the coaching and mentoring of individuals Driven improvements and standardisation of Safety Cases and the safety assessment process at Toll MHF sites by developing and project managing a team of consultants, internal subject matter experts and compliance managers to develop template documentation and a universal project plan, risk matrix and philosophy Designed and developed integrated MHF site profile template and processes to allow ease of reporting and Safety Case due diligence and management of change  Provided leadership, vision, Dangerous Goods/Hazardous Chemicals Safety expert technical support and knowledge across the Group in relation to regulatory and legislative requirements as well as representing the Group on Dangerous Goods Safety compliance related matters with relevant external stakeholders Worked closely with regulatory authorities and policy makers to ensure the interests of Toll are represented and key internal stakeholders are aware of the changes and have input as required Communicated changes to legislation and impacts to Toll’s operations through the development of briefing notes, tool box presentations and related guidance material and leading a team of dangerous goods professionals and managers to roll these out across the organisation

Responsible for maintaining the OHS component of the organisation’s self insurance licences and OHS Governance programs in Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia and Northern Territory (southern region). In this role I:  Designed and lead a self insurance governance program where I allocated OHS professionals to support specific sites based on the skills and personal attributes of the OHS professional and key site managers. This was designed to achieve buy in from site personnel, leverage of and develop skills of the individuals involved and improve the knowledge of safety management systems, safety outcomes and processes at site level  Developed the governance audit program and processes and lead a team of auditors to deliver consistency across the team and develop auditor skills both in investigative evidence based auditing and in the provision of practical guidance and assistance to audit sites to improve safety outcomes and processes  Coached and mentored individuals in the drafting of corrective actions based on SMART principles to ensure clear understanding of actions required and evidence needed to demonstrate conformance Enabled understanding of and compliance with NAT audit criteria by documenting end to end safety management systems and mapping to individual audit criterion Provided subject matter expertise on hazardous chemicals legislative compliance  Responsible for day to day management and mentoring of southern region governance and support team Point of contact for regulator in southern region States with regard to OHS compliance and Self Insurance
