About Debra Lee

Honored as one of the most powerful women in the media and entertainment industries, Debra helped BET become the first African-American company to be traded on the New York Stock Exchange (going from $17 to $29 a share on the first day) and led its acquisition by Viacom for $3 billion in 2001. Debra is deeply committed to representation in board rooms and in corporate leadership. She co-founded The Monarchs Collective to accelerate the diversification of boards and leadership. Ten years ago, she launched Leading Women Defined through which she hosts an annual summit that convenes some of the most important African-American women in industry.Debra serves on four public boards and a number of not-for-profit boards. She is a much sought after public speaker and is based in Los Angeles.
