Debra McDowell has been in the substance abuse field for 3 years. She has a bachelor’s in human service as well as a CDCA II. The qualities that she personally feels are important are listening skills, empathy and patience. Debra has been in this practice for 3 years and is also a recovering addict of 30+ years. She has firsthand watched her family conquer drug addiction which led her in this direction. Her passion is helping people to rise above and beyond the grips of the control of addiction. If you are seeking someone that knows how to keep things real, we can do that. Debra finds that It does take a few sessions to feel comfortable with a person. This also give the clinician and the client time to build trust between them. Debra does do a variety of self-help techniques according to the needs of the client. You andyour sobriety is important to her, and she treats it as so. Most of the techniques that she uses, she has used the same practiced on herself. No two people are alike so what works for one, may not work for the other and this is why there are a variety of help for your specific need.

I have spent eight years working with children that have come from an addiction household. I began as a volunteer, working with two ladies. One I have been working with for eight years and the other I have been working with for five years. During this time, I decided to follow up on my interest by pursuing my bachelor’s degree in human services while continuing to work as a volunteer. I also have received my certificate for the CDCA phase l through the state of Ohio and I and pursuing my CDCA phase ll.
