I have over twenty-five years of experience in the education of students with and without special needs. I have taught elementary, intermediate and middle school levels and have served as an administrator, curriculum specialist, academic dean, and teacher coordinator. I have also been an educator at the college level and a national consultant for an educational reform movement.In addition, I have developed, supervised, mentored and instructed curriculum that incorporates the TEKS and the Core Knowledge curriculum for grades Kindergarten through 8th grade. I have also aligned twenty-seven states’ standards to the Core Knowledge Sequence.Another attribute is my extensive experience in creating and delivering professional staff development for educators. I have provided seminars for interns, college students and staff members as well as teachers across the United States on such subjects as classroom management, classroom organization, lesson planning, differentiated instruction, science instruction, school culture, beginning and advanced literature circles and curriculum development & mapping, effective lesson planning, differentiated instruction, standards alignment, guided reading, and deconstruction of standards for reconstruction of instruction.During my rich and diverse career I have had the opportunity to mentor pre-service interns in the Fifth Year Program at Trinity University. I personally mentored interns in my classrooms and provided support for the other interns on our campus and others. I was an Adjunct Professor with University of the Incarnate Word working with interns in their graduate program and instructing undergraduates on social studies pedagogy.
