I am an economist with more than 25 years of health services research experience in population and healthcare delivery-based research. As a Senior Investigator at the Institute for Health Research at Kaiser Permanente Colorado, I lead a research agenda that focuses on optimizing cancer care delivery in community settings. I have published key findings that contribute to the evidence base on racial/ethnic, socioeconomic, and geographic disparities in cancer related screening, diagnosis, treatment, utilization, outcomes, and costs within community-based healthcare systems. In addition, my research portfolio includes studies that examine the impact of insurance benefit design on patient cost-sharing, and cost estimation within implementation science initiatives. I have more than 130 peer-reviewed publications and I have a strong record of external funding, including multiple awards as PI or Co-PI. I have been an invited speaker at the CDC, NCI, American Society of Health Economists, the Colorado Cancer Coalition, and more. I am one of the multiple Principal Investigators (MPIs) for the recently launched Cancer Screening Research Network (CSRN). This National Cancer Institute (NCI)-funded consortium will evaluate emerging technologies, including Multi-Cancer Detection assays, for early cancer detection and screening (https://prevention.cancer.gov/major-programs/cancer-screening-research-network-csrn). I also serve as the PI of the NCI funded Lung PROSPR Research Center to improve lung cancer screening. This multi-site center grant has produced more than a dozen published studies that identified critical gaps and key opportunities associated with lung cancer screening processes within community-based healthcare systems (https://www.optimizelungcancerscreening.org/index.html ). I earned my PhD and master’s degrees in economics from the University of Colorado Boulder.
